Subject: Checkin N Chat

On January 10, 2009, KB0FB and myself (WA0HFO) instigated an informal "chat" group.

The frequency where we meet is 21.212 (15m band) on CQ100.

The time we start is 8:00 PM Central Standard Time.

The intent is to promote open discussion of a variety of topics - and to utilize a portion of the CQ100 bands other than the 20 meter band. It's really not a net, rather just a place where CQ100 users could check-in and then join in on the discussions.

Hopefully, we'll gather a few interested users in the future.

Stop by and say Hi!! :D

This net is still going on, however, as of this week (Feb 1) we are changing our meeting days to only 5 days a week: Monday through Friday, at 8PM CST.

Subject: Change to Checkin N Chat Net

Now that we are into warmer weather, in most regions of the US, activity levels across the CQ100 bands have begun to taper off some. In keeping with the general trend, the Checkin N Chat Net will reduce the number of days that we meet.

The time, 8PM CDT, will remain the same, but the net will only meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Thanks to all those who have participated in the net, and to all those "regulars" who check-in most evenings.

Check-In and Chat Net Moving to Informal Open Format

The name will change to Check-In and Chat Group, to reflect the new format.

Basically, the Group will still meet on the same frequency, 21.212 mHZ (CQ100) and still commence at approximately 8 PM Central Time (USA).

No formal Net Control station will be in charge of check-ins and participants may check in and stay as long (or short) as they wish. Operation will be self-directed by the participants on frequency and will be of a break-in and talk mode, although the use of call signs and regular HAM courtesy should be followed. QSO-TV should be utilized to announce stations on frequency wishing to join the group, or their 73s when leaving the group. Those who do not have QSO-TV will simply have to break-in during QSO pauses.

The designated time and frequency may be utilized by interested participants 7 days a week, allowing those with varying time or work schedules to take part as they desire.

This format change seems to be more in line with other groups that meet on various CQ100 frequencies, and it allows more flexibility such that hopefully a greater number of participants will take part in the group.
