Subject: For what purpose?

I see no purpose, technical or otherwise, for playing music on the "ham bands."

If you feel a need to be a DJ, start your own system. You would probably find a good following and, no doubt, would enjoy the competition from other on-line DJs.

Actually, I am surprised that no one has done this yet. Unless there are issues with copyrighted materials being played/shared etc.

In the copyright case, that is just one more reason that DJing should not be allowed on QSO Net. Why risk a good system to the vagaries of hungry lawyers and Hollywood?

If you want to play music go to hamsphere, they have a special band to broadcast on, and you might try CB chnl 19

No reason for i here. There are plenty of other outlets for music.
And what to do if one person hogs the freq? and you know that
will happen in less than 5 secs.

Regardless of whether one is for or against the suggestion the thing which I find most surprising is this:

That with very few exceptions most of the people posting comments against the suggestion I have never heard on CQ100. I use CQ100 every day and am aware of the regular users.

My question is this: Should members who rarely/never even use CQ100 be expressing an opinion at all?

Anyone paying the annual fee is a member and has a say in the matter in question.

By the way, I am on CQ100 every evening.

Just a reminder - this is not a democracy. It is a benevolent dictatorship. :)

If users vote for something that is illegal under copyright laws, its not going to happen here. If users vote for something that is not allowed on real radio, it won't be allowed here.

For those who think music broadcasting on ham bands is a good idea, please petition the FCC to allow this, and petition you politicians for change to copyright laws.

The same day music broadcasting is allowed on amateur bands by the FCC is the same day it will be allowed on CQ100.

There are several good programs that allow amateur disk jockeys to transmit on the internet. These programs handle the issue of royalty payments.

I said that each user has a say - was aimed at another's comments. It has to do with me stating my opinion - which I have several times in the past.

I am totally against music on CQ100.
