Subject: What microphone are you using?

What microphone are you using with CQ100 and are you happy with it?

Is it USB or standard?

Get enough drive from it?

Comments about experiences with different microphones?

I have two mics, the CAD U37 and the SAMSON CO1-UCW.

Both mics worked well in Windows XP, but the Samson seemed a little weak in Windows 7. So I use the CAD in Windows 7.

The mics built into web cams seem to work very well, but they pick up every sound in the house.

I highly recommend USB mics and headsets.

I just received the u37 - from Amazon.com. What a fine mic - even has a stand and you cannot beat the $43 price.

Plenty of drive - had to turn everything down. My regular contacts like it - great reports. Too bad it isn't this easy on the HF rigs.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I mounted my U37 upside down in the stand. The mic was too high above the desk when mounted normally onto the stand. Upside down works great.

They must have changed the stand. Mine is about right and there would not be space for it to be mounted upside down. Sure does work good - loads of gain that was unavailable with the Logitech.

Thanks for the tip.
